On 3 November 2025,Typhoon Tino struck the southern part of Eastern Samar with winds of up to 205 km/h, causing major damage to cocoa trees and farm infrastructure.
GAP responded almost immediately. Our local coordinator Dan, together with offshore programme coordinator Pavel, moved quickly to check on affected farms, speak with growers, identify the most urgent recovery needs, and provide practical guidance to growers on how to stabilise damaged trees, protect those still standing, and accelerate recovery—starting with safe, step-by-step pruning and rehabilitation measures to prevent further losses.
